Create a filtered PG / SFW Leaderboard
A lot of people would like to (completely) filter explicit content & strong language. How about a separate leaderboard for that kind of material?

I don't mind this idea. Expanding the opportunities for people to enjoy funny tweets (and thus growing the Favstar brand) is a good thing, and if something simple could let people feel more comfortable spending time on the site during the day, I'd say do it.
I think there should probably be a big warning that they're missing my tweets at the top of the screen in flashing red letters if this is done though. That might motivate these people to quit their jobs so they can enjoy my tweets unfettered.

I'm not suggesting that you should filter content for people who don't want that. But it makes good sense to offer the OPTION to those that do.
What's wrong with making content categories available on an opt-in basis, so that each individual user can decide what type of material they want to read? It's not hard to enable users to customise their experience and opt in to or out of anything from funny to inspirational, pathetic one-eyed celebrity adulation to hysterical arguments and complaints, strong aggression or threats to sexually explicit material, or whatever.
Why should Favstar or anyone else decide for every other prospective user what's acceptable or interesting? A customisable system seems a whole lot better (less likely to cause strife and star wars) than banning people or content that some people don't like. And it maximises Favstar's accessibility / acceptability / attractiveness / exposure to the widest possible audience.

How do you vote against such a thing? If Favstar's biz model requires such a page, fine. But as a user, I support only a no-rules approach. When you are lucky enough to have a user stampede, you don't fight it but rather learn to leverage it. There's little enough "good" content on the leaderboards so a PG (or X-rated) one will produce nothing but garbage. Think HBO quality vs the vapid extremes of CBS (response to wardrobe malfunction) or porn channels (filth only) models. Just my 20cents.

You should also make a leaderboard of tweets by grandparents bragging about their grandkids cause we need shit like that.

fwiw I didn't know what pg/sfw meant 'til I came to see what the voting was all about -- surely just says how daft I am, but, maybe I'm not alone...?

Yes, have a PG/SFW Leaderboard. But please, also have filthy raunchy humor available to us gutterbrains.
