I (shamefacedly) admit that I'm following @favstar only to get the quicker star-collecting benefits, not because I want news updates about the app itself. How about separating the news updates into a separate account, so that the two audiences (people who want updates and people who just want their stars counted) can each choose whether they want to follow both or not?
